STUDENT WORK

Undercurrent is a boathouse located at Bandemer Park that serves as a training facility for student athletes of the University of Michigan rowing team. At the core of the boathouse is a four foot thick spinal wall and a curved wall. The spinal wall defines the main flow of circulation for the building as well as providing various means of storage. The curved wall begins parallel to the spinal wall and, following the curve out onto the dock, gradually becomes parallel to the current of the river. This wall provides easy access to boats and facilitates a natural movement to the water, while also displaying any boats not being used at the time.
