“SIGHT ON SITE”

Sight on Site combines the natural steep topography and dense foliage of Ford Lake Park to both embed and stage a professional rowing facility for interior private and exterior public use. To achieve a private interior in the presence of the ubiquitous public, the two lower floors are submerged in the climbing terrain, limiting the visual views into and out of the facility. To continue the organic, wandering nature of the public exterior, the existing landscape grows over the roofs of the lower floors, thereby becoming a site of spontaneous program for public users. The dichotomy between the embedded interior and the natural exterior establishes two distinct visual journeys for the private and public user, allowing the two to co-exist.
