“A WALK IN THE WOODS”

Mimicking the porosity and permeability of the wooded areas in Bandemer Park, this community boathouse encourages the intermingling of many different types of users. Through the gradient of density in the slatted wooden facades and forests of columns, the boathouse creates semi-private spaces for professional rowers to train and more open spaces for the community to play. The lack of defined walls and use of permeable materials promotes visual and physical connectivity between groups and flow of natural elements throughout the boathouse. Most programs are elevated to reduce ecological footprint and are connected by a circulating ramp highlighting the wandering nature of the boathouse.
