Ford Lake Park in Ypsilanti, Michigan is centrally located within its residential surroundings. Yet, the park lacks year-round amenities with only warm-season-oriented programs.

This project exploits the opportunity of the boathouse proposal in lieu for a recreational center. The Life Boat addresses the lack of seasonal programs while fulfilling the boathouse requirements. Despite the addition of a large center, the chosen site navigates an untouched steep hillside to avoid disturbing the preexisiting amenities. Thus, The Life Boat encourages residents to gather and stay active in the park throughout the year.
