These advanced graduate-level design studios speculate on architecture’s ability to project alternative futures. Characterized by architectural problems of increasing scale and complexity, these studios require solutions that are thorough in their conception, development, and execution.

Each studio section focuses on special topics in architecture, ranging from urbanism to technology to socially-driven design practices that interrogate normative professional models.

Examples include: aesthetic and symbolic issues, comprehensive building design, facilities planning, housing, community design, urban design, historic preservation and conservation, the architect as developer, structure, energy systems and conservation, professional practice and management, computer applications to design, and honors studio.

**A selection of these studio courses are cross-listed with the Urban Design Studio II (UD 722) and Urban and Regional Planning Capstone Studios (URP 603).
