“FUN/FLEX”
Fun/Flex is a pavilion in an imagined marketplace, created through a kit of parts (scaffolding, printed plastic wrap, PVC tubes, and plastic bottles). These elements are combined in different ways to explore concepts of density, color, and pattern, creating an effect reminiscent of an intricate machine or coral reef.
Inspired by Cedric Price’s "fun palace", Fun/Flex houses diverse, intermingled programs, including an exhibit of replicas of contested artifacts, a demonstration water processing facility, and a water play area. This overlap of activity creates new social and atmospheric conditions, designed to give people a dose of the playful, unexpected, and sublime.
