Pearl is a retail showroom and warehouse for furniture made of recycled materials. The aim to advocate the idea of ‘wastes can be beautiful’ is embedded throughout the building’s structure and program. Pearl is housed in a majestic structure assembled through prefabricated parts that calls for a contest between perpetuity and temporality. It gives off a sense of complex but serene and simple beauty which is created through the usage of both environmental and economical building materials. Pearl not only wants to bring in more social activities and fun into the typical indifferent and packed distribution space but aspires to merge and blur the boundaries between the different social, commercial, and logistic functions. Pearl believes that warehouse doesn’t have to be plain and boring; it can also be a beautiful and eye-catching show piece, and it can be the showcasing stage for its products.
